Royal Life Saving SA’s cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training courses will provide you with current knowledge and skills on how to provide basic life support safely and effectively.

What You'll Learn

Our CPR courses are designed for everyday people, no medical background required. You'll gain hands-on experience with:

  • Recognising cardiac arrest and responding without delay

  • Effective chest compressions with the right depth, rate, and rhythm

  • Rescue breathing techniques for adults, children, and infants

  • Using an AED (automated external defibrillator) safely and confidently

  • Recovery position and post-emergency care

COURSE INFORMATION

Course duration and delivery

Our cardiopulmonary resuscitation (HLTAID009) training is delivered in two formats:

  • Blended: Completion of an online training module and knowledge assessment, taking approximately 1  hour to complete.
    The course duration is a 1.5 hour in-class consisting of practical training and assessment.

  • Face to Face: the learning and assessment is conducted fully in person, with no pre-course requirements.
    The course duration is 2.5 hours

Course Requirements

  • The physical ability to complete 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer CPR on an adult manikin placed on the floor and 2 minutes of continuous CPR on an infant manikin.

  • Minimum age of 14 years old.

In order to complete this course, you must be able to:

  • Give a clear verbal report of an incident

  • Understand verbal instructions

  • Read and understand written instructions

Certification

On successful completion of the course, students will be provided with a Statement of Attainment  that includes the following Unit of Competency:

  • HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

It is an industry requirement that a CPR unit of competency is undertaken within 12 months from date of issue of this Statement of Attainment.
