Royal Life Saving SA is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO Registration Number 0996) specialising in First Aid and Pool Lifeguard Training.  We provide a range of services including the SA Water Vacswim Program, Statewide Vacation Swimming Programs, Lifeguard Labour Hire Services, Inland Waterway Patrol Services, Commercial Pool Audits and Home Pool Inspections.

Bronze Medallion Accredited Course

Our Bronze Medallion course is now conducted over 1 day. Please be aware that a proficient swimming skill level to be able to swim the following stokes; Freestyle, Breaststroke, Sidestroke, Survival Backstroke. You will also be required to Swim 400 metres continuously within 13 minutes and  Swim 50 metres, then tow a patient 50m within 3 min 15 sec. These are only 2 assessment items, click here for all the assessment items. Having a Swim and Survive background would be advantageous, but not essential. If you are concerned about the ability to meet these requirements, enroll at a local swim school so you can develop the fundamental swimming and fitness skills.

PLEASE BRING LONG SLEEVED T-SHIRT AND LONG PANTS on the day as you will be required to swim in clothes for some of the assessment tasks 

Pool Lifeguard Course

The Bronze Medallion Accredited course is now not a required prerequisite for the Pool Lifeguard Course; although it is very desirable to hold this qualification as its a good lead it to the physical and lifesaving requirements of the Pool Lifeguard Course. You will be required to undertake a 200 meter consecutive swim in 6 minute and a 25 meter swim and 25 meter tow of an unconscious causality in 1 min 45 sec. If you are concerned about the ability to meet these requirements, enroll into a Bronze Medallion Accredited course so you can develop the fundamental swimming, survival and fitness skills.

You will also be required to complete a pre and post course workbook to sufficiently collect the knowledge evidence of the course. The Pre Course workbook contains 44 short answer questions and the Post Course Workbook contains 35 short answer questions

If booking in for a Pool Lifeguard course please be advised a HLTAID003 Provide First Aid is a prerequisite and will be need to be sighted before commencement of the course. Please bring a copy of the Statement of Attainment on the day of the course. You must also be, at minimum, turning 16 years old (turning 16 within the calendar year) to enrol into the Pool Lifeguard course.
